Compounding Expertise
for Engineered Sealing Systems

At ILPEA, innovation in sealing systems begins with materials. We develop and manufacture high-performance plastic, rubber, and magnetic compounds at the core of advanced applications for the automotive, home appliance, and building sectors. Combining decades of compounding expertise with ongoing material development, we create engineered sealing solutions for static and dynamic industrial applications.

ILPEA materials are regularly certified by external bodies, our broad portfolio includes UL, NSF, DVGW, and WRAS-certified materials to help ensure regulatory compliance and the safety of the final products into which they are incorporated.

FROM PVC TO TPE-S

Plastic Compounds

ILPEA designs and produces plastic compounds primarily based on PVC, TPE-V (ILPEALINK), and TPE-S (ILPEAFLEX), developed across multiple dedicated compounding lines. These materials are engineered to meet both technical and aesthetic requirements, ensuring flexibility, durability, and full customization.
Our plastic compounds are a key element of modern sealing systems, used in applications such as refrigerator gaskets, automotive seals, and washing machine bellows, where reliable sealing performance and durability are essential.

EPDM, NBR, SBR, AND NR ELASTOMERS

Rubber Compounds

We manufacture high-performance rubber compounds based on EPDM, NBR, SBR, and NR elastomers, specifically formulated for injection, compression, and extrusion processes.
These materials support dynamic sealing technology by delivering excellent performance and providing optimal thermal and acoustic insulation and vibration damping. Designed for demanding environments, our rubber compounds enable technical sealing systems that ensure long-term reliability, safety, and durability.

BARIUM AND STRONTIUM FERRITE STRENGTH

Magnetic Compounds and Ferrite Powder

ILPEA’s magnetic compounds, based on barium or strontium ferrite, deliver high magnetic strength, dimensional precision, and long-term stability. These materials play a strategic role in the development of innovative magnetic sealing systems that enhance performance and functionality across a broad range of applications.
To ensure complete control over quality and consistency, ILPEA produces ferrite powder in-house, forming the core of its magnetic compounds and reinforcing the company’s leadership in advanced sealing technology.

FAQ

1. What international standard are ILPEA's compounds compliant to?
ILPEA develops TPE-S, TPE-V, flexible and rigid PVC, EPDM compounds. that meet a range of international standards and regulatory requirements, depending on the application. These include:
– NSF/ANSI 51 – TPE and PVC compounds suitable for Food Zone 1 applications
– EU Regulation 10/2011 – proprietary TPE ILPEAFLEX™ compounds suitable for food-contact applications
– ISO 846 / ASTM G21 – PVC, TPE-V and TPE-S compounds tested for resistance to microbial and fungal growth
– UL 2157 – TPE and EPDM compounds meeting requirements for sealing applications at high temperatures in fabric-care appliances
– UL 94 – rigid and flexible PVC and TPE compounds meeting specific flammability requirements

TPE combines the elasticity of rubber with the processability and recyclability of thermoplastics. Unlike traditional vulcanized rubbers it can be reprocessed and, depending on the formulation and application, recycled, supporting a more circular approach to material management. It is suitable for extrusion and injection molding, enabling the production of highly flexible and elastic components. TPE also be easily integrated with other materials through technologies such as co-extrusion and overmolding, allowing complex multi-material solutions to be produced with shorter processing times than conventional rubber vulcanization. Given its efficient processing TPE also helps reduce material waste and improve overall resource efficiency.

EPDM compound offer superior ozone and UV resistance together with good temperature and mechanical strength so that it is widely used for outdoor applications and technical articles. SBR rubber compound grant superior abrasion resistance and excellent mechanical performance in demanding applications like conveyor belts, tires and shoe soles: NBR can successfully replace SBR when outstanding chemical resistance is required in chemical plants or automotive under the hood applications.
