Soft-Touch PVC and TPO Surfaces for Dashboards and Door Panels
Slush molding is primarily used to produce soft-touch PVC and TPO surfaces with refined, leather-like textures for automotive interiors, including dashboards, door panels, and center consoles. This technology delivers excellent aesthetic results that ensure durability, comfort, and functional performance.
ILPEA has developed in-house expertise in designing molds and “slush skin” automated lines to produce synthetic, leather-like surfaces for dashboards and door panels. Coatings are produced using PVC or TPO compounds developed internally or sourced from third parties, ensuring high quality and customization.

FAQ
1. How does slush molding works?
Slush molding is a manufacturing process ILPEA performs to produce flexible or semi-rigid components with detailed, leather-like surface finishes. The process uses heated molds filled with PVC or TPO powder or liquid to form the required wall thickness. Excess material is removed, the layer is cured, cooled, and then released from the mold.
2. Do dedicated molds need to be created to match the exact shape of each vehicle’s dashboard or door panel covering?
Yes, dedicated molds are required to reproduce the exact shape of the surface to be covered and ensure a precise fit in the final application. This makes the technology particularly suitable for producing small batches of customized components at a relatively low tooling cost while allowing for a high degree of customization.
3. Does ILPEA produce single-color slush-molded parts only?
Thanks to our experience and know-how, we can produce two-color slush skins combining aesthetics and functionality. Using dedicated molds, PVC or TPO can be produced in two different shades: a darker tone on the upper dashboard to reduce windshield reflections and a lighter one to enhance interior design.
