Double Colour Slush Skin

Double Colour Slush Skin

In the 1980s, we achieved a breakthrough in automotive interior design with the successful development of double-colour slush skins, a pioneering solution that combined visual appeal, functional performance, and advanced manufacturing expertise.

Entirely made of PVC, each component was shaped using dedicated moulds designed specifically to ensure perfect fit and seamless integration into the dashboard. Thanks to ILPEA’s know-how in PVC processing, the finished surface achieved an impressively refined texture, so realistic that the material often appeared indistinguishable from real leather.

These components featured two integrated colours: a darker tone (typically black or brown) on the section facing the car’s hood, and a lighter colour—such as a softer black or beige—on the remaining visible part of the dashboard. This design was more than a stylistic upgrade. The darker upper area played a key functional role by reducing windshield reflections, improving driver visibility. This quickly became a standout element in automotive interiors, enabling manufacturers to elevate both aesthetics and functionality.

This innovative component highlights ILPEA’s talent for merging aesthetic vision with engineering excellence, supporting the continuous evolution of automotive industry standards.
